The gloves vs chaotics debate is interesting

I'd much rather see skills such as dungeoneering, which require the skill (and perhaps a good team, which I think is an extremely intriguing and exciting idea that can be introduced with that ability) and see those principles applied to other things. Agility would make for an enjoyable experience, and much more enjoyable gaming.
While it wouldn't make the game any simpler however it could make it more time-consuming. As you've stated, the game is simple enough. It's all about the time. Make it more difficult but also faster, and you'll end up with a much better game.
Jagex will release EoC, to (hopefully) solve the grind. Personally, I am okay with EoC or not EoC. I just want to see them reduce the speed of swifts, spellcasters, and goliaths. I'm GF to everyone who has a cmaul.
The problem lies in the way you tackle the problem of grinding. The best solution would be to have high level content which provides you with more XP However, it's instanced, so you're not going to be crashing to the point of death. It's sort of similar to Dungeoneering. The high-level content could either) provide you with food/pots or b) provide you with enough money to buy food/pots. I think they just need to make sure that it's not bottable.
The gloves vs chaotics debate is interesting. I don't know what the different time balances are between getting gloves and chaotics: certainly the quests and combat level require you to possess a much broader skillset (on an effective team, you could be able to get into chaos with only an excellent combat skill) and still require you to put in some time. Although it is possible they've misbalanced some of the information however, it's also possible that more weapons could be coming soon with greater requirements. However, those would have been promoted in the HTML5 blog.
